As you might imagine, my sons are energetic, funny and usually getting into all sorts of mischief. Being a stay at home mom is a lot of fun with them. I have actually experienced a lot of things through them that I never did as a child myself. Today was an example of a really fun and busy day that I spent with my two youngest kids.
Joah, Daniel and I went to Gold Medal Indoor Sports this morning for a MOMS Club activity. They have a new section of huge bounce houses set up for the kids to play. Joah was really interested in it and went full throttle right away. He actually jumped off the top of the slide onto the bottom platform which is a no-no. I yelled at him and told him to stop, but he did it again and an employee saw him do it. He said if he did it again he would have to leave. OK...we were not there 15 minutes and we were already getting into trouble. Thankfully Joah behaved and listened better so we didn't have to leave.
I had hoped Daniel would enjoy the jumpy things a whole lot more, but he didn't really like them all that much. He mostly didn't like the other kids jumping all over the place, I think. He did eventually warm up, but not after a lot of encouragement and hand holding.
Gold Medal also opened up one of their indoor soccer fields and let us run all over it. That was really a lot of fun. Joah was super excited to kick the soccer ball around and run his little butt off. Daniel was adorable when he tried to kick the ball and it went three feet. Then he would not quit grabbing the ball with his hands and running away with it.
We had a bite to eat there and then went to get the grocery shopping done since we were running so low on food at home. It took over two hours to grocery shop with the two of them. They actually were pretty good, but they were nutty. They kept jumping all around and talking so loud you could could hear them five aisles away. Why can't my kids talk at a normal decibel level???
I just cannot believe how much energy they had today. With all that jumping and running around, you would think they would have been a little more calm at the store. But, I cannot complain because they did behave fairly well and it wasn't a horrible experience. I realized how much Joah can read now as he read many signs around the store. Just a few words, but he is putting the letters together and sounding out words. There was a display and it was NEW and he read it and said, "Mom, this item is new!" Too cute.
By the time I got home from the store, brought all the bags in and put the groceries away, it was after 4:30. Then I had to figure out what to make for supper and my feet were killing me. I was whooped from running all over the soccer field and grocery shopping. We ended up just making sub sandwiches and popcorn. I know, easy cop-out but they kids ate it all and I didn't have to cook.
Time to make some lemonade because Joah has been begging for it all evening and pick out a movie for the kids and me to watch together. I wish Lee was home to hang out with us. He's still at work. He has to work tomorrow night, too. Sunday is bowling league, so we will get to have fun together then.
