We had a slow start to the morning as I am not a morning person and neither is Daniel. He has inherited my grouchy morning genes. I could not sleep last night so I only got about four hours of sleep by the time I did fall asleep and when Daniel woke me up by whacking me in the head with binoculars. Nice. Who needs an alarm clock when you have Daniel?
We managed to get out of the house and head to Walbridge Elementary School to see Mrs. Miller, Caleb's first grade teacher. Caleb was sick on the last day of school so he missed the very last day. He didn't get to say goodbye to his friends or his teacher. We decided to stop in since she is teaching summer school and say goodbye and giver her a gift. However, we were too late and she had already left and we missed her. Can I ever get all the kids ready and out the door on time for anything? Why does it take an eternity to get them all ready and in the van? I hate being late.
So, we left and went to the library in Walbridge to sign up the kids for the summer reading program. We hung out there for a while since we ran into our friends, the Ries Family. After chatting for a while and hunting for some good books, we went to Subway for lunch since I had a gift card. The boys were so goofy in there and kept making burping sounds and laughing hysterically. Thank goodness there were not very many people in there at the time. Too much silliness!
Then we went to Meijer because Joah has been begging me for flip flops. I have no idea why he is in such a frenzy to get a pair of flip flops suddenly. So we looked around and we found a pair that has flames shooting down the sole and he just thought they were awesome. $92 later, we left with a cart full of snacks and supper. I bought turkey brats and sweet peppers, potatoes and a big ole watermelon. Lee cooked the brats on the grill. The potatoes, peppers and carrots were cut up and also grilled in a veggie basket and they were delicious!
We all went for a walk after supper around the neighborhood. Shelby was a total basket case and so embarrassing. She freaks out when she sees another dog and whines and howls. She also walks horribly but she is small so it isn't difficult to contain her. It was Navy's first walk since we got him! I have never wanted to try to take him and Shelby at the same time just myself, but with Lee home, it worked well. He must be the Dog Whisperer because he got that big goofy beast to walk by his side the whole thirty minutes of our walk. He didn't pull or tug and it was actually pleasant. Miracles do happen.
