Janice Marie Sestile of Sylvania Township passed away on February 23, 2008, at the Cleveland Clinic. She was 58 years old. After suffering a debilitating heart attack in 1996, Janice was blessed a year later to receive the selfless gift of organ donation from a Dayton family in coordination with Life Connection of Ohio, the United Network of Organ Sharing, and the transplant team at University Medical Center (then MCO).
Jan appreciated the gift she received and the extra time she was granted each and every day of the last twelve years. With that time, she was able, with her husband, Richard, to see the college and law school graduations of her daughters, Lindsay and Lisa, and their weddings to her two sons-in-law, Chad Gonia and Shawn Corcoran. She also delighted in her role as a new grandma after her first granddaughter, AnnaLucia Marie Gonia, was born on April 13, 2007.
In addition to her immediate family, Jan is survived by her parents, Charles and Thelma Powell; her brother, Timothy Powell, and her sisters, Linda Mettert, Regina Kent, Elaine Abbott, and Laura Barone, and all their respective families.
By all who knew her, Jan will be remembered as the best kind of friend, one who knew no strangers, whose empathy was real, and whose devotion was unmatched.
Visitation will take place Friday, February 29, 2008 from 4-8 p.m. at Reeb Funeral Home (5712 Main Street, Sylvania, OH 43560), and the funeral will be on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10 a.m. (5373 Main Street, Sylvania, OH 43560)
In lieu of flowers, Jan's family asks that any donations be made to Life Connection of Ohio, 3661 Briarfield Blvd., Suite 105, Maumee, OH 43537.
