Hi, Everyone
We made it to the campground safely. We are at Mackinaw Mill Creek Campground. It is a huge campground with about 600 sites. You can see Lake Huron from the end of our camp site. They boys are really enjoying the trip so far. Joah has been a bit of a challenge, but it is going pretty much as expected.
Yesterday was our first full day here after arriving late the night before. We have gone on a few nice walks down by the lake shore. You can see the Mighty Mac from the campground. The bridge is so amazing at night, too. It was all lighted up and very beautiful.
We drove into Mackinaw City yesterday and went to Colonial Michilimackinac. It was educational and fun since Lee and I like history. It was a fur trading post built by French soldiers and it was taken over by Britain and then eventually abandoned by them. We got to watch Redcoats shoot their muskets and then a canon. It was LOUD!
Then we got some supper at Anna's Country Buffet and went to a free outdoor concert in the town park. They boys ran all over the place and were so cute. I managed to get away for a half hour and go to Mackinaw Crossings, which was a really nice shopping complex similar to Levis Commons. We then went back to the campsite and had a bon fire.
Today we are heading over the bridge to Tahquamenon Falls State Park, in the UP. Lee is looking forward to driving over the Mighty Mac. It is the 50th year anniversary of the bridge. It was built in 1957. I will post more later and let you know how our adventures went today. Hope you all are having a good week.
